Shirley Gail (Fults) Decatur, 70, a long time resident of Troy died on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Genesis Care Center in Keene. She passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley was born the daughter of the late Vivian (Adams) and Tommie Fults on April 25, 1944 in Orange, Texas. She attended local schools in Orange.

On November 15, 1961 she exchanged vows with Gerald “Gerry” M. Decatur in Ogden Utah. They were married in a simple service and have been married for fifty four years.

They traveled around the world arriving back in New Hampshire in 1975 after Gerald retired from the Air Force. Gail as she was known as, enjoyed being home, sewing in their upholstery business for many years. She loved being there, taking care of the needs of her family and the home.

She enjoyed crocheting blankets and gave out several hundred over the years to friends, family and many local nursing homes.

Free time was spent going to yard sales and in earlier days, the occasional fishing trip. At the end of the day when it was quiet Gail enjoyed relaxing in her chair crocheting and watching movies, especially scary movies.

Mrs. Decatur is survived by her husband Gerald “Gerry” M. Decatur of Troy. Her two sons; Michael T. Decatur and Martin B. Decatur and his wife Lisa of Troy. Her five grandchildren; Julia, Jennifer, Rush, Sasha, and Brian Scott. She also leaves cousins, extended family and numerous friends.

In keeping with Shirley’s wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10am. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Troy, 11 South Main St. Troy, NH. 03465.
