Sharon Kafka McLaughlin, 72, a longtime resident of Claremont, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 12, 2022.
Sharon was born on January 17, 1950, in Meriden, CT to the late Nancy (Webber) Caruso and Lawrence F. Kafka. She was a graduate of Francis T. Maloney High School in Meriden, CT.
On September 7, 1968, Sharon exchanged vows with the love of her life Ellis S. McLaughlin. They had a beautiful service with family and friends at the St. Rose Church in Meriden, CT. They were happily married for the past 53 years.
Sharon worked for the City of Claremont as the deputy tax collector, Shirley’s Donuts, and Leo’s Market until she retired in 2016. Sharon loved many things in life such as crafting, reading, bowling, bingo, baking, swimming, camping, Christmas, the ocean, and of course, the Boston Red Sox. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her husband Ellis S. McLaughlin of Claremont, her two daughters Melanie M. Brown and her husband Shane of Keene, and Dawn M. Churchill and her husband Colin of Claremont. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, David A. Small Jr., Austin K. Morton, Nikolas K. Morton, Alexis T. (Gabriel) Bent, Olivia B. Churchill, and Jaxon B. Churchill, and her four sisters, Kathleen (Ronald) Judkins, Suzanne (Thomas) Camire, Cynthia (Gary) Kafka, and Allison (Daniel) Barillaro, and her two sisters-in-law Donna Payne and Deborah (Michael) Kollasch, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Child Life Program (CHAD), CHaD Community Relations Office One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
A service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 32 Pearl St. Claremont, NH 03743. All services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Homes and Crematories, 46 South Winchester St. Swanzey, NH 03446. www.cheshirefamilyfh.com.
