Sally J. (Richards) Pierson, 79, a long-time resident of Keene and formerly of Lodi, New Jersey died on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. She passed peacefully after a brief period of declining health with the love of family by her side.
Sally was born the daughter of the late Gertrude (Grover) and Lewis Richards on April 23, 1940 in Brattleboro, Vt. She was educated in Brattleboro and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School class of 1957.
On October 10, 1958 she exchanged vows with John A. Pierson at the Federated Church in Putney, VT. Sadly, John passed on January 14, 2002 after forty-three years of marriage.
She worked at MPB / Timkin in the clean room as a quality insurance inspector for fifteen years before retiring in 2004. Prior, she had worked at Hybrid Systems in Keene in a similar role.
Sally enjoyed showing, riding, raising and was the proud owner of Tennessee Walker Horses. She and her husband traveled the country extensively going to shows, competing and enjoying their passion. Their travels also took them to exotic places like Hawaii where they enjoyed the culture and landscapes. She was always at the boys sporting events cheering them on and giving support.
Mrs. Pierson is survived by her four children; David A. Pierson. and his wife Tina of TN. Peter E. Pierson of Alstead, Timothy P. Pierson and his wife, Lori of Spofford and Todd C. Pierson of Keene. Three grandchildren; Leah, David Sr. and Jill Pierson and two great grandchildren . In addition she leaves a niece and two nephews; Tammy, Mike and Mark. She will be missed by her cousins, extended family and friends. Sally is pre-deceased by her son, Scott “Tuffy” Pierson who passed in 2006 and her siblings; Gerri Fellows and Sidney Richards all passed earlier.
In keeping with Sally’s wishes there are no calling hours and a private graveside service will occur later. Donations can be made in memory of Sally J.
