Sally H. (Gilman) DiMeco 87, a long time resident of Keene died on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the comfort of her home. She passed peacefully with her family close after a period of declining health.

Sally was born the daughter of the late Bessie (Jones) and Pearly Gilman on February 4, 1927 in Lancaster. She was educated in Woodsville and graduated from Woodsville High School class of 1946. Later on she attended Keene Teachers College now Keene State College and earned her certificate in education.

On September 20, 1947 she exchanged vows with Richard C. DiMeco at St. Josephs Church in Woodsville. They have been happily married for almost 67 years.

Sally worked for the Maine Fidelity Life Insurance Company as the Instructor for Licensing Agents. She was with the company for fifteen years before retiring to enjoy her golden years with her family in 1989. Prior, she had been gainfully employed at the Grange Insurance Company in Keene.

Sally was a woman of great faith and member of St. Margaret Marys Church in Keene. She also enjoyed salmon fishing, playing golf, cooking and baking. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, played basket ball and enjoyed bowling. Sally had a soft spot for the disabled veterans and donated annually to the Disabled American Veterans Association. She was a wonderful wife, a great mother and eventually grandmother.

Mrs. DiMeco is survived by her husband Richard C. DiMeco Sr. of Keene. She is also survived by her children and their spouses; Richard C. DiMeco Jr. and his wife Tana of Swanzey, Kathleen Bryson and her husband Ted of Kensington, CT. Margaret Peggy Nelson and her husband Paul of Rochester, Elizabeth Beth Batdorf and her husband Ed of Keene and Thomas Tommy DiMeco and his wife Helen of Seattle, WA. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sally is pre deceased by her only brothers Otis Gilman and Roger Gilman.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 6 to 8pm. in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel. A Mass will be given on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10am. in St. Bernards Church, Parrish of the Holy Spirit, 173 Main St. Keene, NH. 03431. Burial with Christian burial rights will follow in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Rt. 32 South, Homestead Ave. Swanzey, NH. 03446. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
