Ronald (Ron) G. Smalley 64 of Winchester died peacefully early on the morning of August 30, 2010 with family close by.

He was born the son of Elizabeth (Oliver) and George Smalley on July 18, 1946 in Keene. Ron was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School in Winchester class of 1965. He has been a resident of Winchester all of his life.

Ron was also a former member of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of E-4, Corporal before being released with an honorable discharge.

He was formerly married to Patricia Plante and had a 15 year relationship with Cookie Nelson. For the past 10 years he has been with his companion Amy E. Early.

Mr. Smalley was a business man. He was the proprietor and operator of Small Eaze Grocery Store n Winchester for 25 years. He was also gainfully employed by Fairfield’s Pontiac Cadillac in Keene as a mechanic for many years.

Ron had many interests in life. He was a member of the H. O. G. Association (Harley Owners Club) for many years. He liked to hunt. He also liked to tinker with cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed leisurely rides on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Ron also enjoyed a good laugh and was quite the character. He was liked by all who knew him.

Mr. Smalley is survived by his two sons: Seth Hamilton-smalley and his wife Colleen of Winchester and Luke C. Smalley and his wife Tara of Stedman, North Carolina. Grandpa will be missed by his grand children: Ryan and Aaron Smalley, Samantha Smalley-Russell, Vincent and Emma Smalley, Holly Morse and Daniel Early. He also leaves cousins, extended family and numerous friends.

A gathering will be held on September 18 at 1p.m. in the VFW hall in Winchester to celebrate Ron’s life. At Mr. Smalley’s request no formal services will be observed.
