Robert L. Wynot 71 of Winchester died on March 11, 2010 at home after a brief illness. He died peacefully in familiar surroundings and with the love and compassion of his family and close friends at hand.

Mr. Wynot was born the son of Maude C. (Schneider) and Robert L. Wynot on October 5, 1938 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High school in Kingston, MA. Class of 1956. Bob lived in many places over his life; Kingsman, ME. And Epping to name a few.

In January of 1958 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He started as a striker and later went to pipe fitting school for construction, ships and boats. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Cascade (AD-16) and the U.S.S. Donner (LSD-20). He was honorably discharged during the Vietnam Era on December 16, 1964 at the rank of Petty Officer 3rd. Class.

After fulfilling his military commitment and working in other jobs Bob accepted a position with the Department of Public Works in Stoughton, MA. He worked as a mechanic in the maintenance department. He was gainfully employed with the town for over 20 years before retiring in 2000.

Mr. Wynot Enjoyed watching draft horses competitively. He was also a member of the Eastern Draft Horse Association for many years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved to go to the Monadnock Speedway to watch the races. He also loved farming and had his own small cow farm for 30 years. He was a third degree mason and for a time in his younger years was an instructor in ballroom dancing. Mostly Bob was a quiet, private person who would keep to himself.

Mr. Wynot is survived by his only daughter Theresa (Terry) Smith and her husband Jack of Winchester. He will be missed by his cousins and extended family and friends.

At Mr. Wynot’s request there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester. Services will be held with full military honors.
