Robert “Bob or Bill” E. Bixby, 65, of Keene and formerly of Swanzey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Concord Hospital after a brief period of declining health.
A son born to the late Elsie (Pyne) and Robert K. Bixby on January 15, 1958, in Massachusetts. Bob was educated locally at Monadnock Regional High School class of 1976. After high school, he attended Keene State College. Robert enlisted in the United States Army.
He enjoyed showing his love of being an American citizen and supporting anyone who served our country. Bob enjoyed his time working for the Keene Sentinel in their Environmental services and delivering papers for 34 years. He also worked at the Keene senior center for a period. Prior Bob worked for Cheshire Medical Center as a transport manager for 15 years, along with other hospitals in the area.
Along with being a hardworking man, Bob enjoyed art, painting, and writing poetry. He also loved to go on hikes, mycology, and spending time with his family. Robert was a part of the Cheshire Medical Center softball leagues, he spent time racing sailboats and enjoyed giving freely of his time to help anyone who needed it.
Mr. Bixby is survived by his daughter, Mercedes Boucher(LaBrie) of Ashuelot, his four siblings, Faith Maguire, who was also his best friend and her husband Harley of Gilsum, Christopher Bunker and his wife RaeAnne of Swanzey, Frank Bunker of Peterborough, and Tamitha Bunker of Plattsburgh, VT. Along with six grandchildren, Beatrice Boucher, Legion Miner, Iroquois Miner, Evangelene Miner, Nova-Lynn Miner, Rhapsody Bixby all of Ashuelot, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Robert was predeceased by his parents and sibling Jessie Bunker.
A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the First Congregational Church, 679 Old Homestead HWY. Swanzey, NH. 03446. The family has requested that everyone wear white in honor of Robert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward a headstone for Mr.Bixby. There will be a collection jar at his celebration.
