Robert Bob E. Staples
Robert Bob E. Staples 79 a long time resident of Westmoreland died on Sunday, September 29, 2013. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family at his side after a period of decline.
Robert was born the son of the late Bertha (Aldrich) and Charles Staples on July 22, 1934 in Keene. He was educated in Westmoreland and graduated from Walpole High School class of 1952.
Bob was a patriotic soul. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 7, 1953 serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Bob was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant First Class E-7 on July 22, 1984 after serving twenty years.
On September 4 1982 he exchanged vows with Margaret Peggy R. Harlan at the Westmoreland United Church. They have been married for just over thirty one years.
After Bobs retirement from the U.S. Army he worked for Cheshire Transport as a Professional Coach Driver for a period. He later went onto Webster Trucking until he again retired in 1999.
Bob enjoyed many things in life. He was a man of faith and member of the Westmoreland United Church. He also enjoyed going to antique car shows. Time was spent working with his model trains and collecting model cars. He enjoyed mowing the lawn giving him time to think and contemplate life. Earlier in life Bob enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Keene. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Mostly, Bob enjoyed his family and having gatherings at the home.
Mr. Staples is survived by his wife Margaret Peggy R. Staples of Westmoreland. His children; Robert E. Staples Jr. and his wife Sandy of Allentown, Richard E. Staples of Westmoreland, Cindy M. Dolan of Marlborough and Jennifer J. Judd of Westmoreland. His siblings; Wesley Staples, Patricia Bentrup, Molly Wyngerski and Cherie Staples. In addition he leaves eight grandchildren; Melissa, Stacy, Patricia, Robert III, John, Angela, Jessica and Ernie. Three great grandchildren; Abigail, Orion and Kenny. Cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will miss his presence. Bob is predeceased by his daughter Debra A. Hickson who passed in 2007 and siblings; Philip and Carol Staples.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11am. in the Westmoreland United Church, 9 South West Village Rd. Westmoreland, NH. 03467. Burial will follow with military honors in the family lot at South Village Cemetery, Glebe Rd. Westmoreland, NH. 03467. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall after burial. In keeping with Bobs wishes there are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Robert E.
