Robert (Bob) C. Tatro

Robert (Bob) C. Tatro 77 of Winchester died on October 17, 2011 after a period of failing health at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. He passed peacefully with the presence of his family close by. He has been a resident of Winchester all of his life.

Bob was born the son of Edythe (Phelps) and Earl Tatro on June 5, 1934 in Ashuelot. He was educated locally and finished school after eighth grade as many of his generation did.

On September 3, 1955 he took his vows to Ruth (Peggy) M. Lawrence at the Federated Church in Winchester with family and friends in attendance. They had been happily married for fifty six years.

Mr. Tatro was a patriotic soul. He served in the U. S. Army and spent two years state side during the Post-Korean War era. He was honorably discharged at the rank of E-4 specialist in 1958.

After his time in military service he took a job as a Rural Letter Carrier with the U. S. Postal Service. He worked in many of the local communities but was primarily based out of the Winchester Post Office. He retired in 1992 after 30 years of service.

Bob had simple pleasures in life. He liked to raise his goats and do a little wood working. He was a life time member of the Winchester Kiwanis Club. But mostly he loved his family and was always doing things with the kids and grandchildren. You could see Bob at ball games and recitals. He took an interest in his kids and that made him happy.

Mr. Tatro is survived by his wife, Ruth (Peggy) Tatro of Winchester. His four children and their spouses; Kathleen Stewart and her husband Robert of South Haven, Mich. Betsy Scott and her husband Edward of Winchester, Robert E. Tatro and his wife BethAnne of New Ipswich and Denise Seksinsky of Winchester.
