Randall (Randy) P. Daniels, 83, a lifelong resident of Walpole died on Friday, September 15, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He passed peacefully with the love of family near after a period of declining health.

Randall was born the son of the late Evelyn (Conant) Daniels Corbett and Paul Daniels on October 19, 1933 in Randolph, VT. He was educated in Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School class of 1953.

Soon after high school Randy enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served with the fleet on the U.S.S. Everett F. Larson – DDR 830. The Larson was a destroyer class ship that cruised in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Randy completed his enlistment was honorably discharged in 1957.

After his time in the Navy, Randy went back to school and graduated from Windham College class of 1960.

On March 21, 1958 he exchanged vows with Judith Metcalf at the 1st. Congregational Church in Walpole. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for almost sixty years.

Also in 1960 Randy put his education to work and purchased the Walpole Village Store where he ran a successful business until 1980. Business always interested Randy. He became a land developer to provide access for families to live in his beloved Walpole. With his partners he established Sandy Hill Heights, Walpole Industrial Park and North Meadow Plaza as well as areas in Alstead, Langdon, Charlestown and Westmoreland.
He was a former Walpole Fire Commissioner, member of the Lions Club, a longtime member of the 1st. Congregational Church of Walpole and Men’s Heart Club. He was active in the Walpole Society of Horse Thieves and in the Walpole American Legion Post 77. From 1973 to the early 1980’s Randy along with his sons; Jim, Scott and Jay were part of the Cheshire County YMCA Indian Guide Abanaki Tribe. In the 80’s Randall served on the Cheshire County YMCA Board of Directors and the Y Executive Committee as Treasurer of CCYMCA. In 1984 he received the Harold Dickinson Award, the highest Lay Volunteer Award of the Cheshire County YMCA for Corporate Service. He was one of Walpole’s most active YMCA volunteers and fund raisers.

Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife Judith Daniels of Walpole. His sons; James F. Daniels and his wife Alyson of Keene, Scott R. Daniels of Denver, CO. and Jay S. Daniels of Crossville, TN. A grandson, Eric Powers and his wife Miranda of Brattleboro, VT. Great grandchildren; Erin and Nathan Powers. A sister, Geraldine Corbett Kruger and her husband David of Hampden, MA. In addition he leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Randy is pre-deceased by his siblings; Robert Daniels, Rudolph Daniels, Roger Daniels, Joan Obuchowski and Harold Daniels.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 1pm. in the 1st. Congregational Church of Walpole, 15 Washington St. Walpole, NH. 03608. Burial will be held later and privately in the family lot with military honors at Village Cemetery, Walpole. Donations can be made in memory of Randall P. Daniels to: 1st.
