Phyllis Louise (Todd) Matson

Phyllis Louise (Todd) Matson 84 of Jaffrey and formerly of Troy and Swanzey died peacefully with family at hand. She passed on May 21, 2011 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jaffrey after a long period of decline.

Phyllis was born the daughter of Louise (Sheltry) and Clarence Todd on December 4, 1926 in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1944.

On October 12, 1947 she took her vows to Wilfred H. Matson at Immaculate Conception Church in Troy with friends and family in attendance. They were happily married for 35 years before he died in 1982.

Mrs. Matson was employed for a time at Troy Mills in Troy. She was a production worker making textiles. She left the mill in 1952 to assume the role of mother and wife.

Phyllis enjoyed many things in life. She liked to sew and knit in her spare time. She also liked to grow flowers and was a very good cook. Phyllis loved her dogs and cats. Mostly she was a stay at home mom. She was a wonderful mother and loving wife.

Mrs. Matson is survived by her three sons; Tod W. Matson of Quincy, MA., David G. Matson and his wife Leslie of Troy and Jeffrey L. Matson and his wife Judy of Keene. She also leaves her siblings; George Todd of Winfield, AL., Richard Todd and his wife Barbara of Locust Grove, VA. and Nancy Castor and her husband Reggie of Trenton, FL. Her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren along with her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will miss her presence. Phyllis is pre-deceased by her husband Wilfred H. Matson.

In keeping with Mrs. Matson’s wishes all services will be private.
