Pauline (Polly) M. (Kingsbury) Sharkey

Pauline (Polly) M. (Kingsbury) Sharkey 85 of Westmoreland died on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Cheshire Medical Center in Keene after a brief period of failing Health. She passed with the love and compassion of her daughter by her side. She has been a local resident of Westmoreland for fifty eight years.

Pauline was born the daughter of Ellen (Lauzon) and Edward Kingsbury on April 19, 1926 in Swanzey. She attended schools in Keene and Swanzey leaving after completing the eighth grade as so many of her generation did.

On October 12, 1946 she took her vows to Arthur J. Sharkey Jr. in a private ceremony. They had been happily married for sixty five years.

Mrs. Sharkey had many jobs over her life time. She was a production worker ten years retiring from the New England Box Shop in 1988. She also worked at the Winding Brook Lodge for fifteen years as a house keeper.

Pauline enjoyed fishing with her husband in younger years. She was a member and leader of the Westmoreland 4-H. For fun she would go Western Square Dancing with her husband. In her free time she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Womens Auxiliary.

Mrs. Sharkey is survived by her husband, Arthur J. Sharkey Jr. of Westmoreland. Her daughter Ellen A. Sharkey and her significant other Brian Williams of Keene. She also leaves a man who she adopted into the family and treated him like her own son. Hal G. Brown and his wife Charlanne of Newark, Delaware. She also leaves a brother, Horace Kingsbury of Keene and a sister Virginia Smith and her husband Walter of Keene. A grandson Kevin A. Sharkey and his wife Jess. Three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Pauline is pre-deceased by her parents, Ellen and Edward Kingsbury, Siblings; George Kingsbury, Louise Wyman, Clarence Kingsbury, Helen Fields and June Pulkinen.

Calling hours will be observed on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6 to 8pm. A celebration of life service will occur on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10am. all in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
