Edwin Woodward Jr.Edwin “Ed” C. Woodward Jr., 56, a lifelong resident of Marlborough, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, January 14, 2024, after a brief period of declining health with the love of family by his side.

He was born the son of Barbara E. (Brown) and Edwin Woodward Sr. on September 19, 1967, in Keene. Edwin attended Marlborough schools and graduated from Keene High School, class of 1985.

Edwin worked for Belletetes Hardware Store in Jaffrey as a millworker and repairman for 22 years. Prior, Ed worked for Woodmaster Incorporation as their carpenter for 12 years.

Ed enjoyed many things in life such as, working on cars, listening to music, and traveling. Whenever Ed had a free moment, he loved to spend it with his family and enjoyed being at his home. Ed loved all animals, but especially his cat Shadow.

Mr. Woodward is survived by his parents, Barbara and Edwin Woodward Sr. of Marlborough, his special aunts Maggie Connell (Craig Gaudry), Mildred Wesley (Edward), Podgie More, Uncles Richard Woodward, Kevin Brown, along with cousins, extended family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held later in the spring of 2024 with a burial to follow in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Marlborough. Although flowers will gladly be accepted, donations may be made out to the

Leo J. Campbell Jr.

Leo Campbell Jr.Leo J. Campell Jr., 81, a resident of Stoddard, NH, formerly of Woodstock Valley, CT, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Leo was born in Providence, RI on July 14, 1942, to the late Irene F. (Dwyer) and Leo J. Campbell Sr. He attended Attleboro High School in Attleboro, MA, class of 1960, and continued his education at Villanova University earning his bachelor’s degree in Education. Later Leo attended the University of Rhode Island where he completed a master’s degree in Library Science.

In 1965, Leo was drafted and served in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge.

Leo and Patricia (Pat) Hofer were married on September 20, 1968, in Westerly, R.I, and moved to Woodstock Valley, CT where they restored an 18th-century farmhouse to pristine condition. After 48 years in CT, they moved to the peacefulness of New Hampshire.

Leo Campbell Jr.He taught history and was the school librarian for 20 years at Putnam High School (CT). In 1986 he made a career change and became a New York Life Insurance agent. At the time of his death, his was still serving his clients.

Leo was passionate about his hobbies: singing as a soloist in churches and various venues, woodworking, gardening, farming, and stone wall building. He was a proud Leo Campbell Jr.member of the Sullivan Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia of Stoddard, their two children, James (Erin) of Bend, OR and Benjamin (Anne) of Cleverdale, NY. Leo is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Ellen Murano and Mary Catherine Mozzi, his six granddaughters: Parker, Shea, Reese, Madeline, Caroline, and Quinn, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, two cats and 6 chickens. Leo is predeceased by his parents, along with his two sisters, Irene Ross and Suzanne Campbell.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 11 a.m. at the Sullivan Congregational Church. In lieu of Flowers, any donations may be made to:

Carole M. (Batchelder) Gould

Carole M. (Batchelder) Gould, 90, a resident of Hinsdale and formerly of Keene and Stoddard, passed away peacefully with the love of family by her side on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Keene Center Genesis.

She was born the second daughter to the late Avis (Cole) and Alfred Batchelder on October 10, 1933, in Natick, MA. Carole was educated and graduated from Southborough High School in Southborough, MA. After high school, Carole continued her education at Keene State College.

Carole enjoyed her time driving for the American Red Carole Gould 2Cross for 20 years, until she retired in 2008. Prior to this, she worked as a home aid and companion, and as a real estate broker. In addition, she worked as a waitress at various establishments over the years.

Along with working, Carole enjoyed spending her free time working in her flower gardens, and going on country drives. She loved tilling the soil at the Lily B. Pendleton Gardens in Swanzey and Chesterfield, NH.

Mrs. Gould is survived by her two children, Fred Batchelder and wife, Pat of Gilsum, and James Gould and wife, Kim of Wesley, ME. She is also survived by her two siblings, Joan Bartlett of Fayville, MA., and Marjorie Ann Goad and husband, Steven of Ware, MA., a grandchild, Adam Carlin and wife, Margaret of Augusta, WV., along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Carole is predeceased by her parents, and her grandchild, Luke Carlin who passed away in 2011.

Debra Ann Wright

Debra WrightDebra Ann Wright, 62, of Brattleboro, VT. and formerly of Keene, NH, passed peacefully at Thompson House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late Jane (Hickey) and Victor Dunn, born on December 20, 1961, in Hampton, VA. She attended Monadnock Regional High School and graduated as a member of the class of 1980. After high school Debra honorably served her country in the United States Navy.

Debra worked as an office manager at Kiser’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Services, Inc. until she retired in 2012.

Debra WrightDebra had many passions in life, some of which included going to the beach, using her creative talents to create paintings, pictures, and poems, and religiously watching the 3 Stooges marathon every New Year’s Eve.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her children: Justin Michael Wright and his wife, Andrea of Keene; Gregory Allen Wright and his wife, Jessica of Swanzey; and Sadie Elaine Dunn of Keene. She is also survived by her brother Timothy Patrick Dunn and his wife, Jeanne of Kennebunk, ME. She loved her grandchildren: Camilla and Julianna Wright, and Thomas and Kaelyn Smith. Debra WrightShe will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Philip “Tony” A. Tarbox

Philip TarboxPhilip “Tony” A. Tarbox, 27, of Sullivan and formerly of Keene, passed away quietly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

He was born to Denise M. (Lafland) and Edward R. Tarbox Sr. on February 20, 1996, in

Keene. Tony was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School.

Tony was a dedicated employee of Market Basket for 10 years at various locations and was most recently promoted to Dairy Manager.

Philip TarboxTony was always the person to use his time giving to others, he worked hard at everything he did and enjoyed all types of music, and video games, but mostly enjoyed jokes and doing anything to put a smile on someone’s face.
