Nathan “Nate” L. Olmstead, 42, of Dummerston, VT, passed away quietly in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, after a brief period of declining health.

Nathan was born to Doris E. (Cross) and Craig N. Olmstead on November 15, 1979, in Brattleboro, VT. He was educated at Wilmington High School in Wilmington, VT. Nathan went on to earn his License Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse degrees at the Vermont Technical College, then earned his Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, along with his Masters of Business Administration at the Champlain College in Burlington, VT.

On October 4, 2003, Nathan married the love of his life and best friend, Rebecca J. Sbardella. They were married at the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Brattleboro, VT with their family and friends and have been together for the past 18 years.

Nathan began his career in human resources prior to obtaining his nursing license. He loved nursing and had a passion for taking care of people. He most loved his time working in the emergency department.

Nathan had many different interests including traveling, cooking, skiing, and collecting shoes. Nathan loved taking pictures to capture all of his favorite things. His children were his world. They were often the subject of his photography. His favorite memory was a trip to London and Paris with his daughter Zadie a few years ago.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Craig N. and Doris E. Olmstead of Wilton, NY, his wife, Rebecca J. Olmstead, and his two children Zadie B. and Christian E. Olmstead of Dummerston, VT. He is also survived by his two sisters, Jennifer M. Speulstra and husband Owen of Rexford, NY, and Megan R. Wheeler and husband John of Gill, MA, and his Grandmother, Rose-Marie Olmstead of Lacanto, FL as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nate had many dear friends that were like family to him.

There will be a visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and a celebration of life on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00 am at Faith Church, 331 Silver Street Greenfield, MA 01301. Please be aware that due to the COVID pandemic and Greenfield Town Mandate, masks will be required.

Education was so important to Nathan. In his honor, donations may be made to Zadie and Christian Olmstead to put away for their education and can be sent via Venmo to @Rebecca-Olmstead-7 or can be mailed to Faith Church Attention: Megan Wheeler 331 Silver Street Greenfield, MA 01301.
