Michael “Mike” E. O’Brien Sr. 59, of Swanzey and a former long-time resident of Richmond died unexpectedly on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Michael was born the son of Rosalyn (Hulslander) Brown and the late Edward C. O’Brien Sr. on January 22, 1960 in Keene. He was educated locally and graduated from Monadnock Regional Highschool class of 1978.
On September 30, 1989 he exchanged vows with Pamela J. Drew at St. Bernards Church in Keene. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for thirty years.
Mike was employed by the Melanson’s Company in Keene as a utility technician for the past fifteen years. Prior, he was the owner and operator of All Brands Appliance Repair in Richmond for fifteen years. He was a member of St. Bernards Church, Parish of the Holy Spirit in Keene for many years. Time was spent hunting, fishing, four wheeling and enjoying the outdoors. Mike was community spirited. He was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge #927 in Keene and the Italian Club in Keene.
Mr. O’Brien is survived by his wife, Pamela J. O’Brien of Swanzey. His daughter, Bernadette E. O’Brien of Swanzey. His mother, Rosalyn Brown of Las Cruses, N.M. His sister, Deborah J. O’Brien and her significant other, Charles Mcleod of Swanzey. His brother and best friend, Edward C. O’Brien Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Swanzey. His mother in law Susan C. Drew. Nieces and nephews; Darcy Fletcher, Abbie Cordano, Girard Bell, Dylan Bell, A.J. Drew, Trevor Drew, Anna Drew, Joseph Drew Jr. Edward O’Brien III and Brooklyn O’Brien, Kyle Cash, Amanda Otero and Danielle Romero.
Mike is pre-deceased by his sons; Michael E. O’Brien Jr. and Patrick J. O’Brien, his sister Tammi J. Cash, his father Edward C. O’Brien Sr., and his father in law Donald C Drew.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes there are no calling hours. A Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11am. in St. Bernards Church, Parish of the Holy Spirit, 184 Main St. Keene, NH. 03431. A gathering to celebrate the life of Michael E. O’Brien Sr. will be held at the Elks Lodge, 81 Roxbury St. Keene, NH. 03431 from 12pm – 4pm. Burial will be held privately in the spring in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Michael C.
