Matthew (Matt) C. Fraser 17 of Nelson died suddenly and unexpectedly on April 30, 2010 in Stoddard.
He was born the son of Jennifer (Smith) and Gregory Fraser on July 10, 1992 in Concord, NH. As a young boy Matthew lived in Greenfield, NH. and around the age of 11 they moved to Nelson.
Matthew worked as a stable hand at the Dusty Dog Farm in Keene. He enjoyed being with the horses and the perks of being around the women as well. He had hoped to return this year for another season.
Matt was a Junior at Keene High School. His ambition in life was to go to the University of Massachusetts and study Arbory. He was an avid outdoors man and environmentalist. He liked to go hunting and fishing. Fishing was an outlet for Matt. He loved all types including; salt, fresh and ice fishing. Mr. Fraser enjoyed equestrian horses. He was one of few men who preferred riding English saddle style. Being with the horses brought out Matt’s softer side. His abilities were well rounded. He was the Vice President of the Keene High School Future Farmers of America in arbory and was also a member of the Conservation Club. Matthew enjoyed going four wheeling. This winter was his first year to go hunting with the men and his dad. He had been looking forward to this event many years.
Matthew is survived by his parents: Gregory and Jennifer (Smith) Fraser of Nelson. His two brothers; Jacob D. and Andrew W. Fraser of Nelson. His grandparents; Barbara Fraser of Nelson and Paul and his wife Joan of Bathe, Maine, Gail and her husband Kerry Smith of Hancock, NH. His great grandparents; Dorothy Good of Menden, MA., Wilma and her husband Kenneth of North Smithfield, R.I. His uncle; Stuart Fraser of Hillsborough. His aunts Sarah Fraser of Bathe, ME. and Kristen Smullen of Bennington, NH. He will also be missed by his cousins, extended family and numerous friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 5, 2010 from 6 to 9p.m. in the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 15, 2010 at 1p.m. at Granite Gorge, 341 Rt. 9, Roxbury, NH. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in memory of Matthew C. Fraser to the Keene High School Future Farmers of America, 43 Arch St. Keene, NH. 03431.
