Mary Anne McCloskey Bittel, 69, of Swanzey and formerly of Wynnewood and Ambler, PA died unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2014 in the comfort of her home. She passed peacefully while sleeping in familiar surroundings.

Mary Anne was the daughter of the late Gloria (Fruendt) and Mark McCloskey on June 28, 1945 in Abington, Pennsylvania. She was educated in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Saint Basil Academy class of 1957. Mary Anne went on to study radiology and later nuclear medicine.

She was a licensed radiology and nuclear medical technician for over forty years. Mary Anne worked for several medical imagining manufacturers, including GE, Elscint and Fonar during her career as a sales representative and trainer before retiring in 1995.

On July 1, 2001 she exchanged vows with Steven D. Bittel. They were married in a simple service in Wynnewood, PA with close family and friends in attendance. They were married for thirteen years.

Mary Anne enjoyed many things in life especially her family. She was an accomplished chef and baker and was a keen student of ancient history, especially Egyptian archeology. She loved the winter season and being with family and friends.

Mary Anne is survived by her husband, Steven D. Bittel of Swanzey and his three children: Stewart Bittel and his wife Rhonda of Annapolis, MD, Tucker Hurtado and her husband Dr. Alex of Philadelphia, PA and Halsey Buick and her husband Timothy of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren Ben Bittel, Turner Hurtado and Elizabeth Hurtado; and three nieces as well as extended family and friends.

In keeping with Mary Anne’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Cheshire Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow with Christian Burial Rights in the family lot at Mt. Caesar Cemetery, Old Homestead Highway, Swanzey Center, NH 03446. Flowers will gladly be accepted; however, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Mary Anne McCloskey Bittel to Gert’s Food Pantry, c/o West Swanzey Community Church, 7 Homestead Avenue, West Swanzey, NH. 03446.
