Marlene J. (Amadon) Hunt, 89, a lifelong resident of Keene and Swanzey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family at Alpine Healthcare in Keene.
She was born on July 14, 1934, to the late Flora (Schulz) and Fred Amadon in Keene. She was educated locally at Keene High School class of 1952.
On January 1, 1955, Marlene exchanged vows with the love of her life, Robert Hunt Jr. They had a simple service at the 1st Congregational Church in Keene with their family and friends celebrating them. They were happily married for 49 years until Robert passed away on January 29, 2004.
Marlene enjoyed her time working for the Telephone Co in Keene for a short period of time, Tilden’s in Keene for 7 years MPB Timken Super Precision as a telephone operator and in the white room for 25 years until she retired in 2000.
Besides work, Marlene loved to spend her time doing word searches and reading a good book., working in her flower gardens. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Marlene was one who lived a simple and happy life. She was a member of The United Church of Christ for 39 years. Marlene was always complimented on how well she dressed and always matched, she really took pride in that.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by her three children, Rhonda Thomas and husband, Ricky of GA. Sharon Thomsen and her husband, Philip of Swanzey, Nathan Hunt and his wife Michelle of Swanzey, her two siblings, Ronnie Amadon of Keene, and Judy Thompson of Keene. She is also survived by a close family friend, Carol Fassett of Keene, her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Long and husband Chris, Tamara Benefieldand husband James, Cory Thomsen and wife Sarah, Rachel Lewis and Husband Ricky, Morgan Hunt, Lauren Hunt and Partner Cam, Mindy Fitts and Partner Mario, Sarah Fitts and Partner Kyle, Joshua Fitts and wife Ashley, a Bonus Grandson Dominick Amaru and her 12 great-grandchildren. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Marlene was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert, and her two siblings, Kenneth Amadon, and Bruce Amadon.
A burial will take place in July of 2024 in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, 499 Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Dates and times will be announced later online and in the local newspaper. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made in Marlene’s name to the United Church of Christ of Keene, 23 Central Square, Keene, NH. 03431.
