Marion Ella (Millette) Tarr 81 of Winchester died suddenly and unexpectedly on the evening of September 6, 2010 at Keene Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

She was born the daughter of Nellie and Carl Millette on July 13, 1929 in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Marion was educated locally and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School class of 1948.

On September 26, 1953 she took her vows to Mr. George B. Tarr in Dorchester, Massachusetts. They made Dorchester home for many years after that. She also lived in Brockton, MA. for 18 years and settled in Winchester to be closer to her son in 2000.

Mrs. Tarr was gainfully employed by the Arch Diocese of Boston as a House Mother at St. Mary’s Home for Unmarried Women. She retired in 1995 after 25 years of loyal service.

Marion enjoyed life and going bowling. She also like to make puzzles, go to flea markers. Travel with the Winchester Senior Citizens group was a way to get out and do things for her. When the time arose she would spend time with her grand children. She was a good supportive mother to her children.

Mrs. Tarr is survived by her children: Brian and his wife Laura of Winchester, Barbara Jean MacGillivary of Rockland, MA. and Robin Tarr also of Rockland, MA. She also leaves two sisters; Helen Ladd of Holton, ME. and Corris Hickey of Long Horn, PA. Her four brothers; Harold, Roland, Arnold and Raymond Millette all passed previously. Nana will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1p.m. with a service to follow at 2p.m. Burial will take place in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. in Winchester. At the family’s request donations can be made in memory of Marion E. Tarr to the Winchester Learning Center, 5 Michigan St. Winchester, NH. 03470.
