Marilyn D. (Hicks) Cox, 40, of Swanzey and formerly of Vermont and Colorado died on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully with the love of family near after a brief period of declining health.

Marilyn was born the daughter of Karen Eggelston and Bruce Hicks on February 7, 1978 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was educated in Lyndon, Vermont where she graduated from Lyndon Institute, class of 1996.

After many years of courtship, she exchanged vows with Brett N. Cox. They were married in Swanzey, NH on February 3, 2018 in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance.

Marilyn worked as a caregiver. She had many interests in life. Her time was spent fishing, going to the beach, and being with family. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and a talented cook. Marilyn was passionate and felt emotions strongly. She loved life and touched many people over the years.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Brett N. Cox, of Swanzey; her daughter, Kayla M. Farley, of Swanzey; her mother, Karen Edwards, and step-mother, Andrea Willey, of St. Johnsbury, VT; her father, Bruce Hicks, of Colorado Springs, CO; her step father, Randall Edwards, of Marion, IL; her siblings: James Edwards and his wife Melissa of Passumpsic, VT; Sara Dea and her husband Zachary of Dayton, NJ; and Jeremiah Edwards of Vine Grove, KY; her brothers and sisters in-law: Michael Cox and his wife Sue of Swanzey and Tana Demico and her husband Richard of Swanzey; her mother in-law, Norma Cox, of Swanzey; and her father-in-law Merrill Cox of Swanzey. In addition, she leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In keeping with Marilyn’s values there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11am in the funeral chapel. Donations can be made in memory of Marlyn Cox for the future needs of her daughter, Kayla Farley, to Marilyn’s mother: Karen Edwards, 301 Railroad St., St Johnsbury, VT 05819.
