Margaret P. (Packard) Hart, 91, a lifetime resident of Ashburnham, Massachusetts died on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Langdon Place of Keene. She passed peacefully while sleeping.

Margaret was born the daughter of the late Alfreda (Rosbury) and Nelson Packard on June 28, 1927 in Ashburnham, MA. She attended Ashburnham schools and graduated from Fitchburg High School class of 1945.

On September 11, 1954 she exchanged vows with Almond L. Hart at St. Denis Church in Ashburnham. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Almond died on February 8, 2013 after fifty-nine years of marriage.

She worked at the Tewksbury State Hospital as the manager of Linen Services for four years before retiring in 1983. Prior, she had worked for the Ashburnham School Lunch program as the Cafeteria Manager. Earlier she worked at the Gardner State Hospital as a cook.
She has been a member of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Ashburnham her entire life. Margaret enjoyed gardening in her flower gardens, cultivating her blueberry patch and making evergreen wreaths for the holidays. She also enjoyed cooking for others and making hundreds of Christmas cookies each year as gifts.

Mrs. Hart is survived by her daughter Marilyn A. Hurley, her husband James and their son Jeremy Hurley of Keene. She is also survived by her twin sister, Marjorie Pandiscio of Rutland, MA. and a brother, Charles Packard of Ashburnham, MA. Margaret is predeceased by her siblings; Evelyn Matthews, Ruth Hurd, Rachael Mickola, Blanche Binnall, Percy Packard, Henry Packard and Arlene Hart. In addition, she leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In keeping with Margaret’s wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will occur on May 29 at 2:00 pm. at Peoples Congregational Church, 56 S. Main St. Ashburnham, MA. 01430. Burial will be private in the family lot at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery, in Winchendon, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Margaret P.
