Margaret “Margie” C. (Goold) Harris 85, a long time resident of Winchester and formerly of Shelton, Connecticut died on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She passed unexpectedly in familiar surroundings in the comfort of her home.

Margaret was born the daughter of the late Ethel (Beckwich) and Norman Goold on August 29, 1929 in Waterbury, CT. She was educated in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury High School class of 1947.

On October 5, 1967 she exchanged vows with Arthur Harris in a simple service in Cheshire, Connecticut. They were married with close family and friends in attendance. The Harris’ were together for twenty one years before he passed on May 9, 1989.

Margie worked for many years as a secretary for the non profit group People Helping People in Winchester until she retired in 1989. Prior she had been gainfully employed by Princeton Knitting Mills and the U.S. Royal Rubber Shop.

She was a woman of faith. Her time was spent giving freely to various charities and causes. When she wasn’t out and about with charity work she could be found at home doing crossword puzzles. She loved to sit with her companion, Freckles the cat.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her only child, Deborah L. Goold and her husband Reginald W. Roy of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania. A grandson, Travis J. Roy and his wife Tabitha of Glenmore, PA. Close relatives, John Goold Jr. and Janet Salaman in addition she leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Margie is pre-deceased by her brothers; John Goold and Charles Goold.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1pm. in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. In keeping with Margie’s request there are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
