Margaret E. (Dixson) Heald

Margaret E. (Dixson) Heald 80, a long time resident of Troy died on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She passed peacefully after a brief period of declining health.

Margaret was born the daughter of the late Edith (McGivney) and Clifford Dixson on December 15, 1934 in Worcester, MA. She was educated in Barre, MA. and graduated from Barre High School class of 1952.

On December 18, 1954 she exchanged vows with Ralph E. Heald at the Methodist Church of Barre. They were married with family and close friends in attendance and have been together for sixty years.

Margaret had worked at the N.G.M. insurance as an Underwritter’s Assistant for thirty five years before retiring in 1998.

argaret was a woman of faith and member of the Troy Congregational Church. She enjoyed painting, camping and could be found reading a good book when time permitted. Margaret greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Cheshire County Farm Bureau and Secretary for the bureau for fifty five years. Time was also spent as an active member of the Troy Senior Citizens Club where she also assumed the role of treasurer.

Mrs. Heald is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Heald Sr. of Troy. She also leaves her five children and their spouses; Gary Heald and his wife Kim of Fitzwilliam, Debra Batchelder and her husband Donald of Derry, Robin Dunham and her husband Lee of Swanzey, Ralph Heald Jr. and his wife Robin of Hinsdale and David Heald and his wife Debra of North Augusta, S.C. She also leaves her siblings; Elizabeth Soos and her husband John of Barre, MA. and John Dixson and his wife Mildred of Plant City, FL. in addition to nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Margaret is predeceased by her brother Allan C. “Clarence” Dixson who passed on January 1, 2014.

In keeping with Margaret’s wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery in Troy this spring. Donations can be made in memory of Margaret E.
