Mabel D. (Verge) Maclean
Mabel D. (Verge) Maclean 93 of Swanzey died unexpectedly and peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born the daughter of the late Myrtle (Wambolt) and Richmond Verge on July 9, 1920 in Sober Island , New Brunswick Canada . She was educated in Halifax , Nova Scotia and graduated from Halifax High School class of 1938.
On January 1, 1944 she exchanged vows with Charles W. Maclean at the Church of England in Halifax , Nova Scotia . They were married for twenty seven years before he passed on January 1, 1971.
In 1948 the family moved from Canada to Malden, Massachusetts but spent most of her life in Wilmington. Mabel worked as a secretary at Avco and Diamond Crystal after her retirement, she was a personal home health care assistant for many years. She retired in 1981 and moved to a retirement community in Ocala , Florida . Mabel returned to the North East settling in Keene in the early 1990s to be closer to family. In 2006 Mabel moved into her son Davids home.
Mrs. Maclean is survived by her sons; Derrick C. Maclean of Wilmington , Mass. and David R. Maclean of Swanzey , NH . She also leaves her grandchildren; Jeffrey Maclean and Brian Maclean. Great grandchildren; Adam Maclean and Ethan Maclean. Mabel is pre-deceased by her sister Helen V. Verge.
