Ludwig “Luddy, Lou, Smokey” Schwarz, 71, of Greenville, and formerly from Nashua and Tewksbury, Massachusetts died after an extended illness on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Keene Center Genesis in Keene. He passed peacefully while resting.

Ludwig was born the son of the late Theresia (Siegel) (Schwarz) Geiser and Heinrich Schwarz on February 23, 1949, in Salzburg, Austria. Smokey immigrated to the United States at age seven with his family. They settled in Massachusetts where he attended local schools graduating from Tewksbury Memorial High School class of 1967.

He was employed by Johnson Controls in Nashua as a service and maintenance technician for five years prior to retirement in 2009. Prior, he had worked at BASF and EG & G.

Ludwig was formerly married to Kathleen Kelly with who he had stayed friends. Sadly, she passed in 2015. Smokey has been in a relationship with his partner in life, Ms. Sally A. (Swan) Lapan Since May 29, 2008, where they shared a home in Greenville.

He enjoyed many things in life. Time was spent singing Karaoke at the local establishments. When the weather got nice, he could be found riding his Harley Davidson. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Time was also spent in the stands watching and supporting his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Smokey was always up for a good debate about politics and any other number of topics.

Mr. Schwarz is survived by his children; Michael Schwarz and his wife, Sandra of Middleton, Katie Allen, and her husband, James of Nashua, Sarah Schwarz of MA. Justin Schwarz and his significant other, Kristen Vance of FL. Joshua Schwarz and his wife, Anna of MA. His partner in life, Sally A (Swan) Lapan of Greenville. He was a proud Opa to; Samantha Schwarz, Michael Schwarz, Joseph Allen, Kalynn Allen, Jessy Allen, Jayden Allen, Kassandra Allen, Jamie Schwarz, Jacob Schwarz, Toni Schwarz, Alec Clark, Jordyn Vance, Jacqueline Schwarz, Franklyn Schwarz, and Thea Rose, due in March. A great-grandson, Dorian Gayle. A sister, Katharina Bilodeau, and her husband, Paul of TN. In addition, he leaves; cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, extended family, and numerous friends in CT. and MA. Ludwig is pre-deceased by his son, Jacob Schwarz who passed in January of 2019.

In keeping with Smokey’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the family lot at Gibson Cemetery, 68 Old Bridge St. Pelham, NH. 03076. on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 11 am.
