Lillian A. Poposki 91 of Swanzey, died peacefully in her sleep on February 6, 2011 at Westwood Care and Rehabilitation in Keene.
She was born on January 25, 1920 in Meriden, CT. the daughter of Anna (Anschutz) and Marsden Darrow. She was educated in the Meriden Schools.
On July 22, 1949 she married Henry N. Poposki in Arlington, VA. They lived in Wallingford, CT. before building their home in Cheshire, CT. They were married for 38 years before he passed in 1987. Mrs. Poposki lived there until 1997 when she moved to Swanzey, NH. to be closer to her daughter and family.
Mrs. Poposki worked for various factories over the years as an inspector. She also worked for Berkley Market in Southington, CT. until retirement.
She was a woman of faith and a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden, CT. Lillian was a flower and vegetable gardener. She enjoyed canning produce from her garden along with sewing, quilting, braiding rugs, bowling and fishing with her husband. Her summer vacations were spent at Moosehead Lake in Maine, with family and friends. She was a doting grandmother who enjoyed attending her grandson’s baseball games. She also spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Poposki is survived by her only daughter, Doreen A. Sherrick and her husband Donald of Swanzey, her grandson Christopher Sherrick of Swanzey, her siblings; Eva Naples of Southington, CT. Dorothy Johnson of Wallingford, CT. and Margaret Niland of Exeter, NH. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her husband Henry Poposki who died on October 22, 1987, her sister Gertrude Bordonaro, her brothers; Winfield Darrow and Manfred Zeitel and her step father John Zeitel.
There are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden, CT. A date and time will be published prior to the service. Burial will be private. The family has requested that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Poposki to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St. Meriden, CT. 06450 or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03446.
