Lester Patrick “Pat” Sullivan, 83, of Winchester, died on Monday, July 13, 2015. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with family near.
Pat was born the son of the late Daisy (Stone) and Wesley Sullivan on December 9, 1931 in Ashuelot, NH and was educated in Winchester schools.
On October 22, 1951, Pat enlisted in the United States Air Force, which began a 20 year career span which he served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. During this time, he worked as an aircraft mechanic on B-52’s, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant- E5 before being honorably discharged on November 30, 1971.
An avid motorcyclist, Pat participated twice in the “Rolling Thunder” held in Washington D.C., first in 1994 and again in 2006. He had a great sense of humor, a positive impact on many lives, and was loved by many.
He is survived by his significant other of 30 years, Rose Gusan of Winchester; six children: Daniel B. Sullivan of Concord, NH; Karen Thompson and her husband Steve of Concord, NH; John T. Sullivan of Concord, NH; David B. Sullivan of Epsom, NH; Dawn Pulica and her husband Dwane of Loudon, NH; and Judy A. Sullivan of Concord, NH; he also leaves Rose’s children: Brandon Gusan of Springfield, MA; Shannon Gusan and Erin Gusan, both of Winchester, NH; two sisters, Jeanne Eckert of Baldwinville, MA; Peggy Bedaw of Keene, and a brother, Danny Sullivan of Hinsdale; close friends, Ken and Claudia Harvey of Winchester; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, neices, nephews and cousins. Pat was predeceased by a son, Michael Sullivan, and by brothers Sonny, Jack and Paul Sullivan.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester, NH with military honors to follow. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Keene Chapter #21, 63 Base Hill Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.
