Lana M. (Martin) Bevis
Lana M. (Martin) Bevis 73 a long time resident of West Chesterfield, NH. and formerly of Brattleboro, VT. died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home while sleeping.
Lana was born the daughter of the late Carrie (Holmes) and Donald Martin on September 2, 1940 in Meriden, CT. She was educated in Brattleboro and with great pride received her G.E.D..
On July 25, 1959 she exchanged vows with Harry N. Bevis at the First Baptist Church in Brattleboro. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly Harry passed away on June 5, 2012 after almost fifty three years of marriage.
Lana was a typical house wife and took great joy in raising their children.
In later years she went to work when her children were grown. She retired from the Book Press Company of Brattleboro in 2006. She worked in Office Copy for many years.
She was a woman of faith. In her free time she liked to knit, sew and crochet making extra money by making and selling Raggedy Anne dolls and Barbie cloths. Time would be spent in the flower and vegetable gardens. As life went on and grandchildren came into the picture she became a dotting grandmother and eventually a great grandmother. She spent time at the grand kids and great grand daughters sporting events always there to cheer them on and give support.
Mrs. Bevis is survived by her son Martin M. Bevis of Patterson, N.Y. and her daughter, Laurie A. Leduc and her husband Greg of Vernon, VT. Her siblings; Myrna Fosburgh of Brattleboro, VT. Terrance “Terry Martin of Brattleboro, Vt. Rickard Ricky Martin of N.Y. Her five grandchildren; Alexandra Bevis, Sean Bevis, Matthew Bevis, Nikki Bevis and Jason Bevis. Her only great grandchild, Madison Leduc who she had spent a lot of quality time with. Lana is pre deceased by her siblings; Donald Brother Martin, Sharon Root, Anita Boyd and Becky-Jo Martin.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10am. in the family lot at Chesterfield West Cemetery, Poor Rd. Chesterfield, NH. 03466. There are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Lana M. Bevis to: Chesterfield Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 95, Chesterfield, NH. 03446.
