Kenneth (Slim) Wasileski 95 of Winchester and a long time resident of Ashuelot died peacefully on October 28, 2010 with the love and compassion of his family at his side.

Ken was born the son of Mary (Polaski) and Joseph Wasileski on October 28, 1915 in Ashuelot. He was educated locally and attended Thayer High School. He left after the tenth grade as so many of his generation did to help the family.

On August 28, 1937 he took his vows to Miss Cecilia Grzelecki at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Ashuelot. They were happily married for seventy three loving years.

Mr. Wasileski was gainfully employed by the Paper Services Company. He worked as a machine tender and various other positions until he retired in 1972 after 38 years of loyal service.

Ken was a devout catholic. He was a long time member of St. Michael’s Church and after the closing of the church became a member of St. Stanislaus, Mary Queen of Peace Church in Winchester. He was very active in the church as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society and gave freely of his time as the care taker at St. Michael’s Church. Slim enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as number painting. He was also a volunteer fire fighter on the Ashuelot Volunteer Fire Department for sixty years. Mr. Wasileski took great pride in being Santa Claus for the fire department each Christmas. He liked to have a good beer and a shot. Ken liked to watch the Red Sox, Patriots and the Boston Braves.

Mr. Wasileski is survived by his wife Cecilia Wasileski of Winchester. His two daughters; Barbara Bailey of Virginia Beach, VA. Patricia Majer and her husband Ron of Hinsdale. He is also survived by his siblings; Stella Lindsey of Manchester and Florence Dixon oh Hinsdale. Grandpa will be missed but not forgotten by his nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and son in-law Theodore Miller of Ashuelot. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Ken is pre-deceased by his parents, a daughter, Frances (Yarn) Miller, siblings, Chester Wasileski and Sophia Dominick and one grandson; Andy Bailey.

Calling hours will be held on Monday November 1, 2010 from 6 to 8p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass with Christian Burial Rights will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in St. Stanislaus, Mary Queen of Peace Church at 11a.m. with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, at the request of the family, monetary donations should be made in Memory of Kenneth Wasileski to the Ashuelot Fire Department or the Winchester Ambulance Service C/O Town Hall, 1 Richmond Rd.
