Julia T. (St. John) Paine 84, a life long resident of Keene died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She passed peacefully after a brief period of failing health.
Julia was born the daughter of the late Bernice (Hunter) and Robert St. John on November 14, 1929 in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1947.
On February 7, 1948 she exchanged vows with Robert D. Paine. at St. Bernard’s Church in Keene. They were married with family and close friends in attendance. The Paines had been together for twenty nine years until he passed in 1977.
Julia worked as a Pharmacist Assistant and Clerk for twenty years at Medical Hall in Keene. She retired in 1992 to enjoy her golden years with her family.
She was a woman of faith and attended services at St. Margaret Mary’s for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing puzzles. When time and the weather permitted Julia could be found cultivating her flower gardens.
Mrs. Paine is survived by her daughter in-law, Donna Paine of West Swanzey. Her three grandchildren; Carrie Venezia, Amy Rounds and Adam Richards and four great grandchildren. In addition she leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Julia is predeceased by her two sons; Gary P. Paine who passed in 1994 and Michael D. Paine who passed on August 31, 2014. She is also predeceased by her four siblings; Robert St. John, Elizabeth Dancause, Jennie Cantlin and Richard St. John.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 10 to 11am. with a Liturgy of the Word to follow all in the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Julia T. Paine to: Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03431.
