John J. Coty Sr. 66, of Ashuelot and formerly of Guilford, VT. died on Monday, May 9, 2016. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with the love and compassion of his family at his side.
John was born the son of the late Elizabeth Cote on October 10, 1949 in Brattleboro, VT. He was educated in Hinsdale and attended Hinsdale Schools.
On November 8, 2003 he exchanged vows with Christine E. Dubriske. They were married in a simple service in Winchester. The Cotys have been married for twelve years.
John had worked for the Triple-T Trucking Company in Brattleboro for three years before retiring in 2009. Prior, he had worked at As Auto in Guilford as a mechanic for many years.
He had many interests in life. Time was spent working with his hands doing woodworking projects. He loved the open road on his motorcycle. John was a family man who was always going to family events and gatherings. He also had a soft spot for the kids. He had a big white beard and this made it easy for him to play Santa at Christmas time.
Mr. Coty is survived by his wife, Christine E. Coty of Ashuelot. His son, John J. Coty Jr. of Putney. His children from a combined marriage; Rainna Baker and her husband Brian of Winchester, Chelby Snow of Brattleboro, Wendy Hildreth and her husband Brian of Winchester, Francis Snow and his wife Donna of Ashuelot and Stanley Snow and his wife Terri of Winchester. In addition he leaves fifteen grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. John is pre-deceased by his sister and her husband Beverly and Harold Wood.
A gathering to Celebrate John’s life will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 1:00pm. at the home of John Coty Jr. 229 Bellows Falls Road, Putney, VT. 05346. In keeping John’s wishes services will be private. Donations may be made in memory of John J. Coty Sr. to: Hospice and Community Services, 312 Marlboro St. Keene, NH. 03431.
