Johanna R. Varga 94, of Bentley Commons in Keene, formerly of Lakeland, FL. and Milford, CT. died on Thursday, March 5, 2015. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family present.
Johanna was born in Germany on July 18, 1920. She attended schools in Germany and graduated in 1938.
On May, 30, 1973 she exchanged vows with Mike Varga in Fairfax, VA. They were married in a simple service with friends in attendance. The Varga’s have been married for close to forty two years.
Johanna worked for the Knights of Columbus as the Supreme Secretary in New Haven, CT. She was employed by them for twenty seven years before retiring in 1992.
She enjoyed many things in life. Time was spent riding her bike up to her 92nd year, swimming, traveling and going shopping with friends and family. She was a member of the German American Club in Lakeland, FL.
Mrs. Varga is survived by her husband, Mike Varga of Keene. She also leaves her children; Ilona H. Martin and her husband James “Skip” of North Fort Myers, FL. and Christine V. Croteau and her husband Doug of Swanzey, NH. Three grandchildren; Alexis D’ Amboise and her husband Jason of Keene, Caitlin Croteau of Swanzey, Christopher Mohs and his wife Bobbie Jo of Punta Gorda, FL. A great grandchild, Christina Mohs of Punta Gorda, FL. A niece, Evelina and her husband Ziegfried of Germany, in addition to extended family and friends.
In keeping with Johanna’s wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
