Joanne L. (Nadeau) Martineau

Joanne L. (Nadeau) Martineau, 78, of Keene, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Keene Center Genesis. She passed peacefully with her family at her side after a period of declining health.

She was born the daughter of the late Irene (Cassin) and Leon Nadeau on October 3, 1935, in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from KeeneHigh School, class of 1953.

On October 24, 1953, she exchanged vows with Robert Bob E. Martineau at St. Bernards Church in Keene. They were married with family and friends in attendance. They have been married for sixty years.

Joanne was a secretary and part time bookkeeper for the McMillan Company in Keene. She retired in 2012 after working there for fifty six years, to enjoy time with family and friends.

Joanne enjoyed playing games with family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles. She liked to go for walks and attend shows with family members, especially musicals. When time permitted, she would travel with family and take cruises with her husband. Some of her favorite vacations were spent on area lakes with her husband, sisters, children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Martineau is survived by her husband, Robert E. Martineau of Keene, their children and their spouses, son, Steven R. Martineau and his wife, Lynn D. Twiss of Westminster West, VT; daughter, Kathi A. Faulkner and her husband, Timothy L. of Cuttingsville, VT; her siblings, Marlene Colburn of Lake Wales, FL; Carol McCarty and her husband, William of Lake Wales, FL; and David Nadeau and his wife, Elmina of Charaw, SC; four grandchildren, Derek Masten, Matthew Martineau, Meghan Faulkner and Brady Faulkner, in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Norma Nadeau.

A celebration of life with a Liturgy of the Word will be given on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave., Keene, NH 03431. There are no calling hours and burial will take place later. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Joanne L.
