Joanne (Calkins) Bolio, 79, of North Walpole died on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Springfield Hospital in Springfield , VT. She passed suddenly and unexpectedly.
Joanne was born the daughter of the late Mattie (Whittemore) and George Calkins on August 24, 1937 in West Swanzey where she attended local schools.
On August 5, 1970 she exchanged vows with Edward F. Bolio Sr. in Keene in a simple ceremony. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Ed passed on April 4, 2011 after forty years of marriage.
Joanne was always a house wife and mother. She felt it was her job to raise her children and keep a clean home for her family. She was a very strong woman, nothing kept her down. She was happiest while enjoying family time when everyone was together for holidays, family outings, great grandchildrens school activities, concerts, sporting events, and grandparents day at school. She was very proud of all of them. When time permitted she could be found doing word puzzles, reading or watching western movies or attending to her plants. She was a wonderful mother and wife. As time went on Joanne enjoyed listening to books on tape or on CDs.
Mrs. Bolio is survived by her children; Barbara L. Guyette and her husband Wayne of Alstead, Rose M. Bolio of North Walpole and June M. Coull and her partner Anthony King of Lowell , VT. Her sister Betty Short of West Swanzey . Her grandchildren; Amanda Guyette, and her partner James Huffman, Deirdre Rowe and her husband Michael, Ashley King and her husband Joshua, Erik Guyette and his wife Heather, Joshua Doane and his partner Megan Blake, Jeremy Coull and Gracelynn Thwaite. Sixteen great grandchildren. Three step children; Donald Bolio of Keene, Marjorie Peanut Dickinson of Swanzey, Eleanor Chickie Newell of Swanzey. In addition she leaves Step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joanne is pre-deceased by her children; Edward Columb who passed in 1961 and Edward Bolio Jr in 2010. She is also pre-deceased by her great grandson Kayden Guyette who passed in 2014 and her siblings; George Calkins, Walter Calkins, Guy Calkins, Roger Calkins, Ruth Pratt and Jeannette Calkins all passed earlier.
In keeping with Joannes wishes there are no calling hours and a celebration of life service will be held later at the 3rd Congregational Church of Alstead.
