Jeffrey (“Jeff”) C. Bauer, 70, a resident of Spofford, formerly of N. Swanzey and Keene, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, November 6, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Jeff was the son of Helene Bunce Bauer and Clifford Bauer. He was born on July 8, 1953, in West Bend, WI. Jeff attended Monadnock Regional High School and graduated in the Class of 1971. He went on to continue his education at the University of New Hampshire. Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree in business and graduated in the Class of 1975. Jeff fostered many memories with a large group of friends during his high school days and his time in college. He was known as a friendly, social person who would do anything for those he loved.
After college, Jeff worked for Keats Equipment, a family business in Keene. He was the sales manager for nearly 40 years until he retired in 2011. Jeff was well-known in the area for his salesmanship and excellence in customer service. He worked closely with family members at Keats and enjoyed his profession.
Anyone who knew Jeff knows that he was an avid outdoorsman. He took pride in keeping up with property maintenance – he was the one who looked forward to painting the old shed at Hunt’s Pond and you could always find him driving around on his lawnmower. He loved his home property – the babbling brook, blueberry bushes, and the visiting deer. Jeff spent many years of his life enjoying his family’s camp at Hunt’s Pond in Hancock, NH as well as Spofford Lake, where he made many memories. He loved taking his pontoon boat out to the island on Spofford Lake to hang out with friends. During the winter, Jeff enjoyed trekking through the woods of Swanzey for deer hunting. He proudly displayed many deer heads as his prize. Jeff also was an active member of a local snowmobile club for many years. He spent much time snowmobiling in Pittsburgh, NH with his friends and loved attending local ski parties.
Jeff married Bonnie Ridley Bauer in July of 2000 and they were together until her passing in 2014. Together they enjoyed taking tropical vacations, particularly to the Dominican Republic. Jeff and Bonnie enjoyed camping and relaxing around the campfire. Jeff knew how to make friends wherever he was.
In October 2021, Jeff married Patricia (“Patti”) A. Gorman. They had a simple service in Nixa, Missouri with family and friends. Together they were extremely active and always on the go, finding joy in retired life. Spending time together made their bond unbreakable. Patti was unwavering in her commitment to helping Jeff through his battle with cancer this past year. Their love was special.
Jeff welcomed everyone with open arms. He was sentimental and thoughtful, carefully planning the perfect gift for everyone. Jeff was the life of the party, often celebrating holidays with a costume or hat.
He brought a smile to everyone’s face.
