, 91, a long-time resident of Spofford, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017, peacefully in the comfort of her home by the
lake with her children and other close family members at her side.

Jane was born the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Gillett) and Frederick Kingsbury on July 6, 1926, in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was educated in Suffield and graduated from Suffield High School in 1944. She studied at Cornell University and then graduated from nursing school at Boston Children’s Hospital in 1951.

On September 15, 1951, she exchanged vows with William Seamans in a ceremony at her father’s cottage on Spofford Lake. They have been married for 66 years.

A registered nurse who was still visiting patients in the Monadnock region until age 82, Jane leaves a legacy of inspiration, healing, and adventure. She loved her pets, Spofford Lake, annual trips to Maine, her family and friends of all ages, and traveling the world and the US.

Jane worked as a registered nurse at Richmond Children’s Center in Yonkers, New York. She relocated to Spofford in 1975 and worked at Spofford Hall, the Brattleboro Retreat, and Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services in Keene for 19 years before retiring in 2009.

She attended programs in holistic nursing, counselling, and therapeutic touch in Boston and incorporated these lessons into her professional nursing work. She loved dogs, bred Welsh Springer spaniels for 10 years, and continued in the field by volunteering to steward at local dog shows.

Jane is survived by her husband, William Seamans of Spofford; her children, Laurie K. Seamans of Rindge, Jonathan F. Seamans and his wife Karen Granger of Hyde Park, Massachusetts, and Adam M. Seamans and his wife Sharon of Westmoreland; her sisters Mary Louise Lamont of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lucia H. Bequaert and her husband Frank of Keene. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Megan Se-amans Sugg of Brewster, Massachusetts, Amber Seamans of Keene, and Carlo Falitico of Rindge, and a niece, Sarah Kocmond of Charlotte, North Carolina.

In keeping with Jane’s wishes there are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held in June, 2018, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the lake house. Burial will take place in the family lot at Friedsam Cemetery in Chesterfield. A notice will be listed in the paper closer to burial.
