James “Jim”, J.P. Papadopaulos, 85 of Winchester and formerly of Long Island, New York died unexpectedly on October 30, 2016 in the comfort of his home.

He was born the son of the late Domitra (Sinoulis) and John Papadopaulos on June 2, 1931 in New York City, New York. He was educated in Freeport, N.Y and graduated from Freeport High School class of 1949. He went on in his studies and received a Masters of Science in History at Delphi University in New York.

Jim worked as a Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff locally and in New York for most of his life. He worked for many years at the Winchester Police Department until retirement in 1985.

Jim was of Greek Orthodox faith. He enjoyed travel, prospecting in his younger years. Reading history, playing bingo, keeping his brain sharp by working on word puzzles. He collected stamps, sailed in Long Island Sound and was an entrepreneur. He was a competitive marksman. Jim was a member of the Nassau County Range Club and the Salisbury Plains Gun Club both in New York.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes there were no calling hours and a private burial took place privately in Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester. All services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Home and Crematories, 46 South Winchester St. Swanzey, NH. 03446. www.cheshirefamilyfuneralhome.com
