Jacqueline “Jackie” A. (Eastman) Gorges, 71, a long time resident of Keene and formerly of Swanzey died on Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the comfort of her home with the love and compassion of her family at her side after a period of declining health.
Jacqueline was born the daughter of the late Beverly (Waite) and Russell Eastman on December 6, 1944 in Keene. She was educated locally and attended schools in Swanzey.
She worked at Princess Shoe and as an assembler at the J.A. Wright Company early on in life. As time moved forward she became a stay at home mother and caretaker to her children and grandchildren.
On August 4, 1962 she exchanged vows with Norman R. Gorges. They were married at St. James Episcopal Church in Keene with family and friends in attendance. Norm and Jackie have been married for fifty three years.
For fun Jackie enjoyed working in her flower gardens, watching and feeding the birds. She loved to go out shopping with her girls. She would spend as much time as possible with her husband, her children and the grandkids. When at home she could be found sitting quietly with her faithful companion Holli (her baby) a 3 year old toy party poodle and time was spent working on crossword puzzles
Mrs. Gorges is survived by her husband, Norman R. Gorges Sr. of Keene. Her children; Norman R. Gorges Jr. of Keene, Lisa M. Calkins and her fiancée Jim Vincent of Spofford, Tara L. Rose and her husband John of Swanzey. Her seven grandchildren; Melissa Gorges, Aaron Calkins, Shaughn Calkins, Kaitlyn Calkins, Ashleigh Rose, Kianna Rose and Jenna Rose. Her two great grandchildren; Rosalynne Bradley and Ariella Bradley. In addition she leaves fours sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In keeping with Jackie’s wishes there are no calling hours.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11am. in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Washington St. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
