Helvi E. (Lampi) Laine
Helvi E. (Lampi) Laine 96 of Troy died on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center in Jaffrey. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health while sleeping.
Helvi was born the daughter of the late Hilda (Westman) and Emile Lampi on September 13, 1917 in New Ipswich. She was educated in New Ipswich and graduated from the Appleton Academy High School class of 1936. Helvi and her husband moved to Troy in 1946.
On July 23, 1938 she exchanged vows with Eino Laine in east Jaffrey. They had been married for fifty one years before he passed in 1989.
Helvi was employed at Troy Mills for twenty five years in the Spinning Department before retiring in 1984. Prior she had worked at the Hoisery Mill in New Ipswich.
Helvi enjoyed cultivating her Big Boy Tomatoes in the garden. She was a wonderful cook and canned many vegetables and blueberries for the winter months. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens Club. Vacations would be spent going to Cape Cod. Helvi always said to her friends and family that when Im gone well all meet up there again and dance with the angels.
Mrs. Laine is survived by her son Kenneth A. Laine and his companion Lucy Boutilette of Keene. A grandson, Clinton Juniper of Keene, granddaughter Ann Arlig-Camego and her husband of Gardner, MA. Great grandsons and great granddaughters, in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews extended family and numerous friends. Helvi is pre deceased by her son Arnold Laine who passed in 2007.
In keeping with Helvis wishes all services were held privately in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery in Troy. Donations should be made in memory of Helvi E.
