Glenn W. Sillanpaa, 68, a long-time resident of Fitzwilliam, died on Sunday, March 8, 2020, unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a fire.

Glenn “Butch” was born in Gardner, MA the son of the late Elsie H. (Elola) and William H. “Popeye” Sillanpaa on September 30, 1951.

On April 5, 1974, he married Theresa M. Harlow in a simple service in Winchendon, MA. They had been married for forty-five years. Glenn was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, our nation’s Honor Guard.

Glenn owned and operated Sillanpaa Logging and Machine and worked as a highly respected logger and machinist. He retired in 2018 after forty-five years.

He enjoyed long-distance bicycling; making several trips to Canada and back in just three days. He was a dedicated animal rescuer, an avid outdoorsman, and a kayaker and enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren.

Mr. Sillanpaa is survived by his wife, Theresa (Harlow) Sillanpaa of Fitzwilliam. His children; Benjamin O. Sillanpaa of Spain, Lisa M. Foster and her husband, Jeffrey of Spofford; Gary W. Sillanpaa and his wife, Airial of Portsmouth and Tina E. May and her husband Dariusz of Nottingham. His siblings; Doreen Bennett and her husband, Edwin of Gardner, MA, Karen Tresback and her husband, Barry of Baldwinville, MA. and Mark Sillanpaa of AZ. His grandchildren; Isabella, Lilly, Liam, Georgia, Elsie, Charlotte, Keeton, Kyle, Grayson, and Nadege. In addition; he leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
