Gary L. Skillings Sr. 59, of Swanzey, died on Thursday, May 2, 2018 in the comfort of his home while sleeping with family nearby.

Gary was born on December 9, 1958 to parents Vaughn L. and Bertha M. (Clossin) Skillings, in Milford CT. He was educated in the Milford School District where he graduated with the class of 1977.

Gary exchanged vows with Darci A. Russell on October 28, 1998 in a simple service with only close family and friends in attendance.

Gary worked at Phoenix House in Dublin as an Overnight Monitor before retiring in 2012. Prior, he had worked at Keene State College as a Security Guard. Gary was also a long-time musician and performer in the New England Region.

From his youth Gary was a lover of music, who taught himself how to play a variety of instruments which include; guitar, banjo, mandolin and drums, winning many competitions. He was a prolific singer song writer for over forty years in many genres as his love of music had no barriers.

Mr. Skillings is survived by his wife, Darci A. Skillings of Swanzey. His children; Brandy L. Skillings of Keene, Gary L. Skillings Jr. of Keene and Kaylee Berube of Boise, ID. Step-Children; Bobbisue Root of Torrington, CT. Morton A. Davis IV of Brattleboro, VT. and Danielle L. Milde of Keene. His sister, Brenda Stevens and her husband Robert of Winchester. In addition he leaves behind 15 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, extended family and many friends. Gary is pre-deceased by his parents Vaughn L. & Bertha Skillings and his brother, Vaughn (Toby) S. Skillings.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday , May , 2018 at 1pm.. in the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery, Pine St. Swanzey, NH. 03446.
