Gail E. (Webb) Bys, 78, a lifelong resident of Swanzey died peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the comfort of her home with the love of family near.

Gail was born the daughter of the late Frances (Domina) and Borden Webb on March 1, 1940 in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1958. Later in life she went on in her education earning a Bachelor’s of Arts from Keene State College, class of 1997.

On November 11, 1983 she exchanged vows with John “Jack” M. Bys. They were married in their home in Swanzey with family and friends in attendance. They have been married for thirty-four years.

Gail worked at Keene State College. She retired in 2004 after forty-two years as the Book Store Manager.

She had many interests. Gail was a sixty plus year member of the Keene Baptist Church. She was a giver of time to events in her community serving on the Old Homestead Garden Club, Women’s Fellowship at the First Baptist Church and she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society (Purple Lilac Ladies).

Mrs. Bys is survived by her husband John “Jack M. Bys of Swanzey. Her children; Jessica M. Bergeron and her partner, Steven Paul of Barrington, NH and Timothy A. Chandler of Taunton, MA. Her children from a combined marriage; John Bys of Windsor, Ct. Pamela Bys and her husband Kurt Hanniger of Keene, Brenda Smith and her husband Robert of Santee, CA. David Bys and his partner Deb Cummings of Easthampton, MA. and Patricia Carando and her husband Christopher of Longmeadow, MA. Her siblings; Borden D. Webb and his wife Kathleen of Sacramento, CA. and Christie E. Webb and her partner Micki Dickoff of Los Angeles, CA. In addition, she leaves; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10 to 11am. with a celebration of life service to follow. Burial will take place in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Old Homestead Hwy. Rt 32. South, Swanzey, NH. 03446. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Gail E. Bys to: Women’s Fellowship, C/O First Baptist Church, 105 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431.
