Frederick Fred Z. Grasewicz, 101, of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire and formerly of Reading, Massachusetts died on Thursday, May 25 2017 at his sons home in Fitzwilliam. He passed peacefully after a period of declining health with his family near.

Frederick was born the son of the late Blanche (Kodis) and Julius Grasewicz on January 28, 1916 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was educated in Medford, MA. and graduated from Medford High School class of 1935. He went on in his education and earned a Bachelors of Arts in Accounting from North Eastern University.

Fred was one of the greatest generation. Hearing the call to war he joined the U.S. Navy. His enlisted started on July 23, 1953 and ended on April 5, 1946. He served as the storekeeper onboard the U.S.S. Sierra and the U.S.S. Augusta. Serving in the South Pacific, he was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Fred was honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer 2d Class.

On November 11, 1950 he married Jean E. MacInnes Medford, MA. Sadley, Jean passed on October 28, 1999 after almost forty-nine years of marriage.

Fred worked for the Hersey Company in Dedham for twenty-five years as the Control Accounts Financial Officer until he retired in 1981.

He had many interests in life. Time was spent golfing. He enjoyed a good book and would travel when time permitted. Fred was the oldest member of the Meadow Brook Golf Course in Reading where he was a member for many decades.

Mr. Grasewicz is survived by his son, Paul F. Grasewicz Sr. and his wife Rose of Fitzwilliam. He also leaves three grandchildren; Paul F. Grasewicz Jr. and his wife Samantha of Plattsmouth, NE. Jillian R. Maki and her husband Seth of St. Johns, FL. and Elizabeth R. Joslyn and her husband Jerimiah of Fitzwilliam. In addition he is survived by eleven great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Fred is pre-deceased by his five brothers.

In keeping with Freds wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will be private in the family lot with military honors at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Frederick Z. Grasewicz to: Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Rd. Swanzey, NH. 03446.
