Frances A. “Fran” (Cyr) King, 73, a long-time resident of Keene and formerly of Springfield, VT. died on Friday, May 3, 2019. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with the love of family near.

Frances was born the daughter of the late Priscilla (Alden) and Philip Cyr on December 12, 1945 in Newton, Massachusetts. She was educated in locally and graduated from Walpole High School class of 1963. Later in life she decided to go back to school. In 2007 she graduated from Keene State College with an Associates of Science in Education.

On April 1, 1967 she exchanged vows with Richard “Dick” R. King at the Emmanuel Church in Walpole. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for fifty-two years.

Fran was employed by the City of Keene School Department. She worked as a teacher in the Title One Department for thirty years until retirement in 2015.

She had many interests in life. She enjoyed doing crafts and making hand made gifts for her friends and family. She also loved and adored her grandchildren very much. Earlier in life she was involved in scouting. Fran took on the roll as a Cub Master for Pack 302 in Keene. She was involved in various aspects of scouting and mentoring for twenty years. She was also the recipient of the District Merit Award in Scouting.

Mrs. King is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” R. King of Keene. Her three children; Katherine M. Hames and her husband, Jeff of York, ME. Mathew R. King of Swanzey and Patrick J. King of Murfreesbo, TN. A sister, Catherine Cooper and her husband, William of Brooksville, FL. Her grandchildren; Ashley Chase, Alex Hames, Andrew Hames, Connor King and Landon King. In addition, she leaves; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Fran is pre-deceased by her brother Mathew Cyr.

In keeping with Fran’s wishes there are no calling hours or formal religious services. Burial will be private in the family lot at Emmanuel Cemetery, Bellows Falls, VT.
