Elwin O. (Elley) Truesdell III

Elwin O. (Elley) Truesdell III, 63 of Winchester died on May 25, 2010 with peace and dignity in the familiar surroundings of his home. He passed with his family at hand knowing he was loved.

Elley was born the son of Roselyn (Major) and Elwin O. Truesdell Jr. On March 3, 1947 in Brattleboro, VT. He was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School class of 1965. He has been a Winchester resident for most of his life.

On March 29,1968 Mr. Truesdell took his vows to Miss. Jeanette E. Johnson in Orange Massachusetts. They have been married for 42 years.

Mr. Truesdell was the owner and operator of the Truesdell Garage in Winchester. He has been in operation for over 25 years in the family owned business.

Elley was a member of the U.S. Army in his younger years and was discharged honorably for his time in service.

He liked to weld and fabricate metal for all types of projects. Part of being a business man was taking an interest in the people he would do car repairs for. It was well known that he would share a beer while talking to his friends and family. Elley was a great father and husband to his wife. As his children became adults he became their friend and mentor. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals especially dogs. He loved his dogs; Dobe, Duke, Thunder and Dakota. Being a grandfather was a cherished time for him to be with his grandson.

Mr. Truesdell is survived by his wife; Jeanette E. Truesdell of Winchester. His children; Edward D. Truesdell and his daughter Jessica E. Truesdell both of Winchester. He leaves one sibling; William D. Truesdell and his wife Bambi of Ashuelot. His only grandchild; Daniel E. Truesdell of Winchester. Elley will be re-united in death with his parents and son Elwin O. Truesdell IV who died in 1974.

At Mr. Truesdell’s request a private burial was held on May 28, 2010 in Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester. There were no public calling hours. At the request of the family, donations maybe made in memory of Elwin O. Truesdell III to Hospice and Community Services, 12 Marlborough St. Keene, NH. 03431.
