Elsie Elizabeth (Wheeler) Lorette

Elsie Elizabeth (Wheeler) Lorette 82 of Surry died on August 30, 2010 in Keene after a period of failing health.

She was born the daughter of Grace (Davis) and Perley Wheeler on July 23, 1928 in Hudson, MA. She was educated locally and left school after the eighth grade as so many of her generation did.

On September 16, 1951 she took her vows to Mr. Vern C. Lorette in Peterborough, NH. They were married for 45 years when he passed on September 18, 1996.

Mrs. Lorette was gainfully employed by Princess Shoes. She worked in the manufacturing department as a machine operator. She retired after 16 years of service when the company closed.

She spent her leisure time making cloths for dolls. She also liked to crochet making Afghans. Her time with her friends at bingo was a time to be with the girls and have fun. She was also a member of the Brattleboro, VFW Women’s Auxiliary for many years.

Elsie is survived by her children: Cheryl J. Graham and her husband William of Keene, Ginger R. Cutter and her husband Lionel of Keene, Leonard J. Lorette of Oklahoma, Verna G. Barcomb and her husband Allen of Brattleboro, VT., Joseph R. Lorette and his wife Terri of Surry. She is also survived by her siblings Ralph Wheeler of Surry, Louis Wheeler of Greenfield, MA., Ida LaFortune of Hinsdale and Milton Wheeler of Illinois. She will be re-united in death with two children; Joanne Lorette and Verne Lorette Jr.. Her presence will be missed by her several grand children, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews extended family and many friends.

At Mrs. Lorette’s request there will be no calling hours. A grave side service will be held in the family lot on Saturday at Surry Center Cemetery in Surry at 10a.m. The family has requested donations be made in memory of Elsie E. Lorette to the West Swanzey Athletics Association, California St. West Swanzey, NH. 03469.
