“Betty” R. (White) HinckleyElizabeth “Betty” R. (White) Hinckley, 84, a resident of Keene and formerly of Belmont, MA., passed away peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home on Friday, November 17, 2023, with the love of family surrounding her.

Elizabeth was born on May 9, 1939, to the late Ruth (Balch) and George White in Boston, MA. Betty was educated locally at Keene High School graduating in 1986 after taking classes at night.

On December 12, 1984, she exchanged vows with the love of her life, Robert “Dick” R. Hinckley. They had a simple service with family and friends surrounding them. They were married for 35 years until Robert passed away on June 5, 2020.

Betty was a proud owner of Betty’s Yarn Shop in Keene for 3 years until she retired. She also was the secretary for the RISE program for many years.

Betty enjoyed spending her free time knitting or sewing, reading a good book, and doing puzzles. One thing she loved most in life was spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Hinckley is survived by her children Arthur J. Desrosiers and his wife, Robin of Hooksett, NH. Donna M. O’Toole and her husband, Thomas of Pelham, NH. Elizabeth A. Desrosiers of Winchendon, MA. Michele R. Desrosiers of Keene, and children from the combined marriage, Debra Stephenson and her husband, Glenn of Keenesburg, CO. David Hinckley and his wife, Jinsook of Fayetteville, GA. Diane Lee and her husband, Vinal of Papillion, NE. and Dawn Hinckley of Cibalo, TX. She is also survived by her siblings, George White and his wife Renee of Colorado, Robert Hiltz and his wife, Paula of Massachusetts, Lorraine Steinberg of Massachusetts, and David Hiltz of Massachusetts, she also has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, Robert Hinckley.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. A burial will take place on a later date at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen where she will be rejoined with her husband.
