Eleanor SiblyEleanor F. (Johnson) Sibley, 92, a resident of Mansfield, MA., formerly of Keene, NH, Hendersonville, NC, Peacham, VT, and Easton MA, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024.

She was born April 22, 1931, in Norton, MA, the daughter of the late Margaret R. (Sims) and Carl E. Johnson. Eleanor was educated at the Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, MA. class of 1948. She continued her education at Boston University, earning her Bachelor of Science as a Medical Secretary in 1952.

On September 25, 1955, Eleanor exchanged vows with the love of her life, Donald C. Sibley at the Evangelical Eleanor SiblyCongregational Church in Easton, MA. They were married for sixty-four years until Don passed away on April 22, 2020.

Eleanor began her career as a medical secretary, working for a doctor’s office in Brookline, MA for 3 years. After having children, she returned to work as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Easton, MA for many years until she retired in 1986.

She enjoyed reading (and editing) a good book, gardening, and knitting. Eleanor loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In each place she lived she was an active member of her church, including singing in the choir. She had a special fondness for her mother’s birthplace, Argyle, Nova Scotia, and enjoyed traveling to visit relatives there in the summertime.

Eleanor SiblyMrs. Sibley is survived by her three children, Douglas B. Sibley and his wife, Darlene of Argyle Nova Scotia, Raymond S. Sibley and his wife, Lisa of Dillsburg, PA., and Margaret L. Wentworth of Mansfield, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Kathryn Greenfield, Elizabeth Sibley, Nathanael Sibley, Rebecca Bishop, Ellie Muise, Dakota Kibler, Krey Kibler, and Drew Kibler. In addition, she leaves 9 great-grandchildren, many cousins, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Donald C. Sibley.
