Elaine Frances (Fowler) Knight, 88, of Marlborough, NH, and formerly of Dublin and Auburn, passed away peacefully while residing at Aynsley Place in Nashua, NH on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
She was a daughter of the late Meryle (Clark) and Kenneth Rowe Fowler born December 16, 1934, in Durham, NH. She was educated at Dover High School in Dover, NH. class of 1952 and was accepted to the National Honor Society. She continued her education at UNH in Durham where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Education in 1956. She later received a Master’s Degree in Education from Keene State College.
She married Carl P. Webber in 1955 while attending college. They worked and lived at Mt Washington Cog Railway base station one summer season while attending college. Together they raised a family and operated the Dublin Lake Nursery in Dublin, NH before divorcing on March 22, 1972.
On August 21, 1972, Elaine exchanged vows with the love of her life Frank E. Knight after meeting at Parents Without Partners. They shared the same values. They were married in a simple service surrounded by the love of family and friends. The Knights were married for 49 years when Frank passed away at home on August 23, 2021, at age 97.
Elaine worked at Marlborough High School teaching Art and History, later she taught the Marlborough Elementary students. She retired in 1980. In May 1961 she signed a teaching contract with Derry Cooperative. She also held positions at Dublin Elementary School and taught Art at Salmon Falls School in Rochester, NH.
Elaine enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, quilting, and oil and acrylic painting. She displayed her paintings at Sharon Arts Center and Colony Mill in Keene, NH. She loved square dancing with her husband Frank. They belonged to the Monadnock Squares as well as the Strawberry Square Dancing Groups. They wintered in Florida at a square-dancing community with an on-site dance hall.
Mrs. Knight is survived by children, Gene Webber and his wife, Amy of Montreal, Canada, Carrie Webber and her husband, Dean McCollaum of Brookline, NH. and Irvin Webber and his wife, Kathy of Chesterfield, NH, Willard Knight of Sun City Center, Fl. She is also survived by her siblings Calvin Fowler and his wife, Ann of Charlottesville, VA., Karen Wise and her husband, Doug of Derry, NH., Charles Fowler and his wife, Pat of Cape Elizabeth, ME. and her sister-in-law Fay Fowler of Westminster, MD. along with nine 
grandchildren. She is predeceased by her children Aaron Webber who passed in 1986, and Josiah Knight. She is also predeceased by her brother Arnold Fowler.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Federated Church of Marlborough, 16 Pleasant St. Marlborough, NH. 03455. A burial will directly follow in the Meeting House Cemetery, Frost Hill Rd. Marlborough, NH. 03455.
