Earl N. Young, SR, 78 of Winchester NH, died unexpectedly on October 7, 2009 at Concord Medical Center in Concord, NH.

He was born on April 5, 1931 in Leverett, MA, the son of Eva (Young) Weston. He attended Leverett schools and left after the tenth grade as so many of his generation did.

Earl married Marcia H. Lask on August 29, 1983 in Troy, NH. With close family and friends in attendance. They have resided in Winchester, N.H. for the last 26 years.

Earl worked at Cowl’s Lumber Mill as a sawyer. He also worked for D. H. Jones Construction for 10 years. in his early years until the loss of his sight prevented him from continuing.

Mr. Young was an avid outdoors man in his early years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He had a love for motorcycles, dogs and country music. He enjoyed playing his saxophone. When his blindness took over, he learned to read brail and enjoyed reading. He was a licensed ham radio operator and spent many hours speaking to people all across the county. He was a member of the moonlighter club. With the help of the Association for the Blind, Earl was able to continue to work making holiday bows and sold them to retailers.

Besides his wife of 26 years his survivors include sons: Bruce Young and his wife Arlene of Ustis, FL., Earl Young Jr. and his wife Deryl of Conneatville, PA., Wayne Young and his wife Joanne of Conway, MA., Gary Young and his wife Bridgett of Belchertown, MA., Kevin Young and his wife Jody of Shutesbury, MA., He leaves a daughter; Debra Britt of Amherst, MA. Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother William (John) Derosier and his wife Pat of New Salem, MA., and three sisters: Patricia DeWalt, MD, Donna Perry and her husband Mike of Belchertown, MA., Sherry Barnes and her husband Jim of Leverett, MA. Earl will be missed by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A grave side service will be held in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, on Richmond Rd., Winchester at 11 a.m.
